Excellent buoyancy control is what defines expert divers. You’ve seen them underwater. They glide effortlessly, use less air, and ascend, descend, or float immobile almost instinctively. They can more easily observe aquatic life without disturbing their surroundings.
You can do it too. The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course improves the buoyancy control techniques you learned as a novice diver and takes them to the next level.
PADI Open Water Divers or above who are at least 16 years old are eligible to participate in the Peak Performance Buoyancy course.
What will you achieve as a buoyancy specialist?
During two dives, you will learn to:
- Determine the exact ballast you need, so that you are not too light or too ballasted.
- Adjust your ballast system and your diving equipment so that you are perfectly balanced in the water.
- Get a hydrodynamic position to save energy, use air more efficiently and move more smoothly through the water.
- Stand still in float in any position, vertical or horizontal.
- 2 dives.
Get credit! The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course can serve as an Adventure Dive credit for your Advanced Open Water Diver certification , ask your instructor about getting credit.
Do you want to jump to rebreathers? This course has many useful tips for achieving good buoyancy control when diving with rebreather.
It is best to use your own diving equipment, including a ballast system. This way you’ll make adjustments to your buoyancy with the equipment you’ll use on each dive.
Your PADI Instructor or dive center staff can help you find the equipment that is best for you and your diving adventures.
Visit the diving center to sign up for the course and get your PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Manual y Peak Performance Buoyancy video. You can also register online and we will send it to your home.
By reading the manual and watching the video before going to class, you will be prepared to go into the water and start practicing your buoyancy techniques when you meet with your PADI Instructor.
