WEARING A DRY SUIT IN DIVING
How to use a dry suit?
Take the Specialty Course Dry Suit and know the keys to dive safely with these types of suits.
PADI Dry Suit Diver Specialty
Do you want to stay warm? Do you want to extend your diving season?
Then dive dry. A dry suit isolates you from the water and keeps you comfortable , even in surprisingly cold water.
It is incredible to dive in the coldest regions of the world and in some areas, conditions are even better in the coldest months. Becoming a dry suit diver allows you to expand your limits and dive in more places and more often. Don’t be intimidated by cold water.
The first thing you will discover is what style of suit and underwear are right for you and the diving you are going to do. Then you will learn how to take care of your suit. During two dives, in addition to a confined water dive, you will practice:
- Put on and take off your dry suit with minimal help.
- Dominating buoyancy control wearing your suit.
- Procedures for safe diving when wearing a suit.
You can earn academic credit for the Dry Suit Diver course – ask your instructor.
In addition, the first immersion of this PADI specialty course can serve as an Adventure Immersion credit for your certification Advanced Open Water Diver ask your instructor how to get the credit.
Counts as specialty immersion if you want to earn the PADI Master Scuba Diver degree.
Clearly in addition to a dry suit your basic diving equipment is necessary. A PADI Instructor and dive center staff will explain the equipment options you may need to comfortably dive with these types of suits. For example, because you have more buoyancy with a dry suit than with a wet suit, you may be interested in a different ballast system configuration.
You will practice in wetsuits using gloves, fins and full diving equipment. You’ll also learn zipper care and maintenance.
