Adventure Diver

The PADI Adventure Diver course helps you get more out of diving by introducing you to new types of diving adventures. It’s a great opportunity to work with your instructor to develop your diving techniques and gain more confidence.

THE FUN PART

Have you always wanted to try underwater photography? How about wreck diving? This is your chance, because you can try three dives of your choice, have a piece of what you like, and feel more at ease in the water, strengthening your underwater skills and letting you enjoy diving more than ever.
Get credits! Each Adventure Dive can serve as a credit as the first dive of the corresponding PADI specialty course. It means you can go in the right direction on your way to becoming a Rescue Diver.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

PADI divers enjoy the fun of neutral buoyancy.
You can choose what you’re most interested in learning. Need to work on your buoyancy skills? Try the Peak Performance Buoyancy Adventure Dive. Want to know what you’re looking for down there? Try the AWARE-Fish Identification Adventure Dive. Choose any of the following three adventure dives:

Adventure dives are available for divers 16 years of age or older:
AWARE-Fish Identification, Underwater Naturalist, Boat Diver, Underwater Navigator, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Photography

Additional adventure dives available for divers 18 years of age or older:
Altitude Diver, Multilevel Diver, Deep Diver, Night Diver, Diver Propulsion Vehicle, Search and Recovery Diver, Drift Diver, Underwater Videography, Dry Suit Diver, Wreck Diver

THE DIVING EQUIPMENT YOU WILL USE

You will use all basic diving equipment including the underwater compass. Depending on which three adventure dives you choose, you can also try underwater photography equipment, a diving torch, a dry suit, balloon lifts, a diving flag/buoy and other specialized equipment.
Ask your local dive shop about equipment rental and packages offered with this course.

THE TEACHING MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED

The PADI Adventures in Diving Manual and DVD provide information on more than 16 types of specialty diving. You’ll use them as guide books to improve your diving skills and prepare for new experiences and adventures.

Interested in night diving? Go to the Night Diving chapter. Once you’ve taken a look at the techniques, your instructor will guide you through your first night diving adventure. Do you consider underwater navigation problematic? Review the underwater navigation section and sign up for a Navigation Adventure Dive with your PADI Instructor at your Portosub dive center.

PREREQUIREMENTS

To do the Adventure Diver course you must have PADI Open Water Diver or the Junior Open Water Diver certification (or a certification from another training organization that qualifies you).

YOUR NEXT ADVENTURE

After your PADI Adventure Diver certification you can take the next step by completing two more adventure dives. If you complete a total of five adventure dives that include deep diving and underwater navigation you will be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.

PADI Adventure Dives may also count toward PADI Specialty certifications. For example, if you liked your Night Adventure Dive and want to do the full PADI Night Dive specialty course, your Night Adventure Dive may count as the first dive of this specialty.
